Victoria Day Updates

Just a few odds and ends to talk about as we near the end of May.

@thewhiners and @thewhinesband
We've been tweeting a lot more recently.  Decided in April to start RT-ing whiner references as well - even if they weren't about us.  Made some new friends this way. Of course we had the recent Canadian election and did some on the fly tweets during the debates which was quite fun and gave a real sense of being in the moment as others were watching/tweeting too.

Whiners and Losers
We've been calling album #2 "Whiners and Losers". All the basic tracks are down and we're just refining now so we should be out with another into late June.  The tracks have both Jamie and I really excited. We love what we did on Happy Accident of course but all the tracks on the new one seems to have us feeling really giddy (when was the last time I used "giddy" in a sentence?  A long time ago ... if ever)

I've uploaded a file here for you to sample. Love For A Woman is a song by Jamie. HIs vocals and songwriting for #2 are pushing me hard and I'm loving his slide playing and what it's bringing to the band. Vocally too, we're sharing more and more and it's feeling like the band is just taking off in full flight!

We've actually started a third album. Maybe we'll target that for early 2012.  We're digging the tradition of older 60's bands who would have of a couple of albums a year. This one is likely to have Whole Lotta' Water on it and that one goes back a while. So, we're using it as the working title for #3.  More news on that as it develops … but first will be #2 Whiners and Losers.

Friday Night Lights
Friday Night Lights is one of my favourite TV shows and it ends this year.  I just love it to death.  Speaking of TV, sorry to hear that Outsourced was cancelled.

iLife 11
Earlier on I alerted about the bugs in iLife11.  Apple seems to have resolved them. We've been using both iMovie and, of course, GarageBand smoothly for a while now. Just wanted to do a make good report on that fact.  Can't report on iPhoto though as we don't use it.

David Gilmour
Well, Sir G finally hit the bricks with Roger Waters and The Wall tour.  He guested, as expected, during a London show just last week.  The Internet has lots of good video coverage of his appearance on Comfortably Numb.  Nick Mason came out for the final song as well.  I still miss Rick Wright so very much. The official Floyd coverage has disabled embedding on YouTUbe so we can't put it rig to this page ... but here's the link to Comfortably Numb.

We'll leave you with our band's version (not that we're trying to compare but our Dave does pretty good here).
