Merry Christmas and Happy New Year predictions of doom and gloom

We say it outloud for those who celebrate Christmas: "Merry Christmas" (and especially to Reham, who argues we shouldn't get hung up about being too PC). For those who don't celebrate Santa or Christ or gift giving, or whatever ... happy all the rest!

The end of the year is mastering time with a big push over the next five days to finish up the Whiners and Losers album. The songs are sounding pretty good to us. The album should have some more legs than the first album, We say "should" since the songs are a tad more cohesive between the two Whiners. Lots more trade offs of vocal parts and quite tasty bits of elements added in the material. It goes from straight ahead rockin' to pure folk to some blues sounds influenced from a century ago (in feel at any rate). There are 13 "lucky" tracks in total!

So, there's that.

And, of course, there is the end of the season (year) itself and the traditional time to make predictions for the coming year. Here's mine:
  • 2012 won't be the end of the word
  • U2 breaks up
  • The City of Toronto will have a long, long, long period of labour unrest including replacement workers being beaten up badly
  • There will be a major war (Iraq - civil or, dare we feel it Iran, Pakestan or India - not Korea though)
  • A Beatle death (or perhaps a member of the Rolling Stones)
  • There will never be another "new" Pink Floyd album but Gilmour, Waters and Mason will announce - at 2012 year end - a short tour
Ah, some of these are way too ominous but I feel them to be true. I do think the Leafs will do a whole lot better this year! But I don't feel a prediction coming on around them.

Maybe this year we'll get some more dialogue going on between readers and the band - here, twitter, facebook, Reverbnation, etc. I personally hope so. Even a few of you Beatle vs. Floyd readers ... time to speak up.

Mean time though, have a good time just being you and I'll do my best to hold up my side.

We leave you with a free download of Zombie Neighbours - it's a true story and we'll blog about it sometime maybe. It's the lead single off of Whienrs and Losers. Also, our Holiday Greetings promo - we'll be taking that off the front page soon (end of December).  Cheers!
